Before the zombie attack Cassandra was doing well in school. She was surprised she even got into this college. It was all Kaity even though she would never admit it to her face or anyone else. Kaity was the reason Cassandra was there in the first place. During high school they would always study together. Kaity always made Cassandra study. She knew what Cassandra was capable of when no one else did. Cassandra was the one who didn’t believe in herself. Neither did her parents, or her older brother. They didn’t know what went on at school. They never asked so she never told them. Kaity kept her at her best. She was the rock in their friendship. She wasn’t picked on at school or anything like that. She decided to blend in at school her Freshman year in college. She started wearing all dark colors nothing bright. In college she doesn’t have to be with her family, only during breaks but she mainly stays at the dorm if the dean allows her too. She is doing well in college she is a B and C student just like Kaity. She got her studying habits from Kaity. ‘Study fast, retain as much information you can as possible’ She can almost hear Kaity saying it right beside her sometimes when she needs to be ready for an exam. There is another part to what she says about studying ‘Do it fast so we have more time to play video games!’ Ah Kaity, she would sometimes reminisce about their good times together but she give Kaity the cold shoulder Freshman year and ever since they haven’t said more then 10 words to each other. They can’t hold a conversation any more. After high school everything ended for them. It at least ended for Cassandra. That summer Kaity vacationed with her family in Canada, where she always wanted to go. Cassandra was left behind. The final year she really needed Kaity to be there for her, so she wouldn’t have to be with her family all the time with them talking her down. She was more than excited when she got accepted to this college. She couldn’t pack fast enough. All she had to do was wait to be able to move into the dorms. Kaity was the only one who knew everything about Cassandra. Even the things about her family and how she was talked down to. It was the reason Kaity kept her at her best because she knew Cassandra believed in herself and needed reason to believe in herself. All of it changed Freshman year in high school. Kaity tried to confront her but Cassandra and her new wardrobe quietly walked away with a roll of the yes and the cold shoulder. She couldn’t let Kaity in again. Not after she left her to survive her family on her own. She knew it wasn’t her fault, but she needed someone to blame. Cassandra has always wanted to help people in need but it seemed as if Kaity was doing all the helping for her. She got threw her Freshman year in college just fine without Kaity. She knew she could do it again, with Kaity’s voice cheering her on inside her head, she could get through anything with Kaity. Now she didn’t have Kaity anymore, all that was left were the voices of her old best friend cheering her on. She still had problems with her family and still no one knew. She still wonders if Kaity worries about her family issues or worries about how she is doing in school like she used to. She has friends, just none cared for her as much as Kaity used to. During this zombie invasion though she still tries to push Kaity away. She’ll go to desperate measures to keep Kaity away. She doesn’t want to depend on her like she used to. She can handle herself. She feels as Kaity resents her now, and that’s how Cassandra wants Kaity to feel. She purposely tries to upset her so they will not have a chance of being friends again. She can’t risk being left behind again.
